The title song of Mast (1999) was Sunidhi
Chauhan’s breakthrough.
But it was another track that began with M – Mehboob
Mere from Fiza – that was mind-blowing enough to earn her a
nomination in the Best Female Playback Singh category at the Filmfare Awards in
2001.
She was joined behind the microphone by Karsan
Sagathia.
It was the only contribution of lyricist Tejpal Kaur*
to the film’s soundtrack.
Anu Malik composed the song.
(*Note: Kaur is the ex-wife of singer Sukhwinder
Singh, who wasn’t roped in to lend his voice to any song in the film.)
